Fireworks and alcohol are top safety concerns for Marion County Law Enforcement over the 4th of July.

Sheriff Jason Sandholdt cautions citizens to refrain from the use of illegal fireworks and to use their best judgement with legal explosives. Citizens should also be aware of the alcohol content of drinks that they do not regularly consume. Sandholdt pointed out many craft beers have a much higher alcohol content than the domestics he says many residents regularly drink. Sandholdt shares that deputies will be out in force thanks to Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau funds, which pay overtime costs for peace officers during certain holidays.
