A former Truman State University standout will be joining the ranks of the coaching staff for the Central women’s basketball team next season. Amy Briggs was named an assistant coach to Chelsea Petersen just yesterday. Briggs was a graduate assistant coach at Missouri Valley College while earning her master’s at Northcentral University in Arizona. She was the head coach of the JV squad for the Vikings. During her playing years, the newest member of the Dutch was a first-team all Great Lakes Valley Conference player, and a league all-tournament team selection back in the 2013-14 season. In that year, Briggs set a school single-season record for most three-pointers, 80, and went 42 – 17 in her games as a player over two seasons at Truman State. Central will be adding Briggs and will bring back all five starters and most of their bench from the 2015-16 roster.
