Another gem from Mac Sarver pushed the Pella Christian baseball team to a 4 – 0 start and a conference-opening win over Newton last night, 6 – 2. Sarver went the distance and was helped on offense by a Scott Haveman two-run double and two RBI from Ben Bouwcamp. Three seventh-inning runs from the Cardinals pushed Newton over PC softball, 7 – 6. The game was tied at four after six frames; the Eagles scored all of theirs in that sixth inning, with the big blow being a bases-clearing triple from Courtney Johannes. She would later add a double in the seventh, and Natalie Vos hit a lead-off homer in the last inning. A two-run, two-out gave the Cardinals the walk-off win. The Pella Christian softball team falls to 3 – 1; both teams return to action on Friday at home versus Oskaloosa.
