Splitting a pair of games at the West Marshall Tournament this Saturday would set the Mustangs up with a second place finish, defeating Grundy Center 10-0 in just five innings, and dropping a heartbreaker to the hosts 11-8.

In game one Brady Fagen would get a start on the mound and go four innings giving up no runs and getting the win. The Mustangs scored five runs in the first and never looked back, and were led on offense by Brayton Van Dyke and Braden Phifer who both had a three hit game with Phifer also picking up four RBI. In game two the Mustangs got out to a 6-2 lead going into the sixth inning but five runs from West Marshall in the next two innings would tie the score, and then four runs scored by the hosts in the 8th would give the Mustangs the loss. Derek Brown took the loss on the mound, and the Mustangs were buoyed by three hits from both Noah Henkenius and Braden Phifer. The Mustangs fall to 7-12, and will get back to action tonight against Gladbrook-Reinbeck.
