Last weekend, Pella Ambulance responded to a female with head, neck, and shoulder injuries after an incident at the Pella Aquatic Center.

Manager Mallary Westoff would not comment on the incident, but did say with a crowded aquatic center this past month, remembering safety tips when swimming is important.

“You don’t run anywhere–take it nice and slow, make sure you’re listening to staff,” she says.

Westoff believes the staff does their best to keep swimmers safe.

“We’ve been international safety award (winners) through Ellis & Associates for the past six years, receiving a gold or silver that puts us in the top 30 percent as far as safety,” she says.

Often times, Westoff says personal responsibility can prevent serious injury.
