They scored a combined 32 runs. Both Pella Christian baseball and softball put up a “16” in the visitor’s score column in their respective wins over Lynnville-Sully yesterday evening. The boys scored seven times in the third and put up at least one run in all five innings of a 16 – 3, run-rule game. Seven different players drove in a run for the Eagles, with Issac VanderHart leading the way with three, Ben Bouwkamp and Lawson Bruxvoort each had two RBI. The Eagles’ softball team struck early for eight runs in the first two innings to break out of their mini-slump and defeat the Hawks, 16 – 2. PC added single runs in the fifth and sixth, before scoring six times in the seventh. Chloe Dembski, Courtney Johannes, and Natalie Vos all singled in the first frame, and Lizzy Van Manen slugged a pair of two-run bombs out of the park and went 3-for-4 on the day with five RBI. Emma Schnell gave up just two hits, one of them being a two-run homer in the fourth, but still easily earned the win on the mound with nine strikeouts. The girls are now 9 – 3 and the boys improve to 8 – 4; they are each off until Monday for a pair of games at Grinnell.
