The Pella Christian Eagles softball team shut down Oskaloosa 7-0, and the baseball team dropped their first pair of games this year in a doubleheader 10-0 and a 3-2 loss heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

Hanna Vos and Sophie Howerzyl each scored a pair of runs, and Brooke Mitrisin crushed a three-run homer in the seventh.

Emma Schnell was dominant in the circle with her complete game shutout and retired the last 15 Indians who came to hit. She just gave up two hits and struck out eight.

Pella Christian’s baseball team was shutout in five innings 10-0 in game number one, with Scott Haveman tagged for the loss. The team fell behind 2-0 in game two before rallying back to tie in the bottom of the third. Both PC and Osky missed prime opportunities to score in the middle innings, but the Indians took a one-run lead in the top of the 6th. Head Coach Nate Johnson said after the game the doubleheader sweep is the first bout of adversity for his young team.

The Eagles were led by six innings of work from Kyle Sneller, who gave up three runs and struck out three.

Both teams are in tournament action this morning, with 4-1 Pella Christian traveling to Oskaloosa for their invitational and the 4-2 baseball team heading to Eddyville.
