The eight game Pleasantville Softball winning streak was put to an end by the number six ranked in class 1A Martensdale-St. Mary’s 9-1 last night in a game that was marred by three separate lightning delays.

Avari Heinz-Penz drove in Andie Sowers for the only Pleasantville run of the night, and head coach Robert Friday told KNIA/KRLS Sports that it was a hard game to stay focused on because of the delays; Pleasantville had runners on base for every delay and then couldn’t capitalize after resuming play. The team falls to 10-8 and will have another tough Pride of Iowa Conference game tomorrow against Wayne. The Trojans baseball squad finished up a rain shortened affair with Martensdale-St. Mary’s last night, eventually falling in the 15th inning 4-1. Nate Sowers would resume on the mound for the Trojans and take the loss, and the Trojans play Nodaway Valley tonight.
