On the heels of a come-from-behind win over Norwalk on Friday, Pella High baseball was swept by visiting Algona in a doubleheader on Saturday. The Little Dutch could only muster five hits in a 4 – 3 loss in game one. Landon Vander Leest gave up three earned runs in five innings while striking out five. The Dutch got behind quick in the second game, 4 – 0, before chipping away and tying it up in the seventh at six. This forced extra innings, but it was the Bulldogs that erupted for six runs in the ninth inning to win, 12 – 6. Tyler Hillman had a home run and two RBI to highlight a 3-for-5 game offensively; Grant Judkins, Jaden Rolffs, Ben Tysseling, and Soren Stelter all contributed two hits apiece. The Little Dutch are now 10 – 4 this year, and they begin a run of five straight conference games on Monday when they go to Newton for a twin-bill.
