On a windy Monday, Natalie Vos was hitting balls out of the park, while Emma Schnell was keeping them in the playing field during Pella Christian’s 8 – 1 win over Pella High on the softball diamond. The Eagles had eight hits on the night, three of them in the second inning when they took an early 3 – 0 lead. Sara Tallman bounced an RBI single out to left in the third to bring in Pella’s lone run, but that’s all they would get against Emma Schnell, who allowed just four hits and no walks while striking out four to get her eighth win of the season. The game was close late, when Natalie Vos turned on a pitch in the fifth, and circled the bases with a three-run homer, Vos’ second extra-base hit of the day was more than enough cushion for Pella Christian to roll to their eighth win of the season. After the game, Coach Robin Llewellyn gave praise to pitcher Kinzi Van Wyk and said she hopes the team focuses on the important strides they made against a solid ballclub. The Lady Dutch fall to 6 – 6 on the season, and both teams are back in action today; Pella is at Centerville, and Pella Christian goes to Colfax-Mingo.
