Ag in the City Cattlemen

Next week, agriculture will take over downtown Pella for the final Thursdays in Pella.
The annual Ag in the City is set to begin at 6 p.m. Thursday on the downtown square. Mary Van Zante with Marion County Farm Bureau says the evening is meant to showcase what agriculture means to the state and country.
“It’s not an important part of not only the economy in Marion County, but in Iowa and in the United States,” Van Zante says. “And I think someone who doesn’t have any real connection, doesn’t really understand what it means to be a farmer and the various different ways agriculture impacts us.”
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey will stop by and speak at 6:15. The Marion County Cattlemen will serve food on Franklin Street, students from the Pella FFA will have various exhibits throughout the square, and farm equipment will be displayed.
