In what will be his 11th season this winter, Central athletics director and head wrestling coach, Eric Van Kley, has been appointed to the NCAA Division III Wrestling Committee. Starting at the beginning of September, Van Kley will serve a four-year term as one of four regional representatives. The other three reps come from schools in Rhode Island, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. One of the responsibilities of the committee is to administer the D3 championship tournament in March each year. Van Kley took the reins of the Dutch wrestling program that was sorely lacking participation back in 2007 and is restoring it to the national stage. Central finished 29th at the D3 Championships this past March with two wrestlers earning All-American status, including a runner-up finish. The 29th place showing was the highest by Central in 13 years.
