About a year ago, the Pella Christian softball team was getting ready for their first round playoff game and looking as strong as ever. The Eagles, battling with injuries, were upset in extra innings by Van Meter, 9 – 8. Three seniors graduated then for Coach Karen Harrill. Fast forward to 2016, the Eagles have just one senior: Courtney Johannes, the team captain. She’s hitting .341 this year and tied for the team-high with 25 runs driven in. The Eagles are 19 – 7 and play at home versus Madrid in their first round game this season. Coach Harrill says she wants this Eagles’ squad to go as far as they can, not just for their lone 12th-grader, but for themselves. Harrill emotionally stressed that all her team needs to do is believe in themselves. The Eagles will play tomorrow at 7:00 p.m., and you can hear every step of PC’s postseason journey on 92.1 KRLS, KNIAKRLS.com, and via our free KRLS mobile app. Andrew Schneider will call the action on Wednesday, starting with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m.
