Pella Christian’s baseball team got off to a 6 – 2 start after eight games this season. During that time, the Eagles’ pitchers recorded three shutouts and allowed just five runs in their six wins. However, Pella Christian suffered a pair of big losses early on, including a 10 – 0 setback versus Oskaloosa and a 17 – 2 loss at the hands of Pella High. Coach Nathan Johnson says the team made it a point this year to support one another and he feels that made it easier for the guys to bounce back after a tough loss. Johnson adds that it would be remiss to not mention Mac Sarver’s important contributions all season long on the hill for the Eagles. Pella Christian did not lose more than two games in a row all year long and the team ERA was 3.23 overall.
