Entering his third season as head coach of the Central women’s and men’s tennis programs, Coach Ryun Ferrell has a bit of an “identity crisis” on his hands. What Ferrell is dealing with is getting more potential recruits to realize that Central does indeed have a tennis program and that they have amazing facilities to accommodate high-caliber athletes. Ferrell says when he entered the Tulip City in 2014, the previous fact was not realized by many, but after a few years, he feels that they have grown in that department. The Dutch head coach goes on to say he knows just about every coach in Kansas so he tries to recruit hard there. He also came from Illinois and ergo he knows a lot of people in Illinois, and adds he wants to branch out into Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Missouri. The women’s traditional season in the fall begins on September 3 with a doubleheader of sorts in Illinois against Knox College and Monmouth.
