Knoxville Baseball returned home on Saturday having been swept at Glenwood in a doubleheader where 44 runs were scored during 16 innings of two ballgames that took six hours to play. The Rams were walk off winners in both games after trailing before their final at bat. Glenwood won the first game 10-9 in 9 innings, and then repeated the performance in game two with a 13-12 victory. Both games were back and forth affairs but the Glenwood bats just refused to be silenced as the Rams banged out 38 hits on the day.
Rylan Cox (2-4) took the game one loss in relief for Knoxville. The Panthers would take a 9-8 lead in the top of the 9th when Trent Davis drove in Blake McClung with a double, but the Rams answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th to win it. In game two, Knoxville took a 12-11 lead after scoring 2 runs in the top of the 7th, but once again Glenwood would answer with 2 runs and another walk off win. This time off Tanner Mason (0-2) who would be saddled with the loss.
Knoxville falls back to .500 overall with a 17-17 record. They are back in action on Monday at Newton in their regular season finale, before getting the postseason started on Friday against Chariton at Pella.
