Needing to win just one out of two games in Centerville last night to clinch sole possession of the South Central Conference title, the Knoxville Baseball Squad took care of business in the first game and beat the Big Reds 10-5 and then pulled off the sweep for good measure in the nightcap 15-12 as heard on AM 1320 and 95.3 KNIA. Knoxville put up an eight spot in the second inning in game one and led at one point 8-2, but back came Centerville to get to within three runs at 8-5 in the fifth inning, but could not get any closer. Rylan Cox picked up the win in game one. Game two, which on the surface was meaningless, was still a game Knoxville wanted to win and once again, the second inning was the big blow for the Panthers where they scored seven runs highlighted by a D.J. Snyder two run homer. Jacob Zuck got the win in game two going just an inning and two/thirds. Knoxville is now 17-14 on the season and 15-3 in the South Central Conference and will hit the road to Western Iowa this weekend to play Lewis Central Friday and Glenwood in the doubleheader on Saturday.
