Wrapping up the regular season with five straight wins, Pella High’s baseball team is gearing up for what could be a deep postseason run. Pella has had yesterday and will have today to practice for their fourth game versus Newton tomorrow night in the first round of district play. Defense has been an issue lately for the Little Dutch, and their bats have not been as consistent as we’ve seen them this season, two things Coach Jesse Jablonski says they’ve been working on while getting ready for the playoffs this week. Jablonski adds that they’ve had some guys in slumps at the plate so they’ve been trying to work some kinks out with mechanics. The good news for Pella High baseball fans is that they have been winning the close games, which is extra important in the postseason with teams throwing their best pitching just about every day. The other good news for fans is they won’t have to travel to see the Dutch play anytime soon; Pella is scheduled to host all three rounds of district and substate baseball, starting with the Cardinals tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.
