Congressman Dave Loebsack hosted a roundtable discussion in Knoxville Thursday to meet with mental health care providers and discuss the Children’s Access to Mental Health Services Act.
The act provides increased funding for statewide or regional networks of mental health professionals who work with primary care providers to train and provide support on pediatric behavioral health care. Loebsack introduced this legislation to help increase access to mental health services for children. Loebsack says children’s mental health issues are best caught early so that they can receive the care they need throughout their lives. He says greater access to mental health professionals, hospital beds and other services are needed across Iowa at all ages.
