Their 2016 season now officially in the books, Pella Christian’s softball team had to say goodbye to one senior after their heartbreaking 2 – 1 loss in the regional final to Regina. Courtney Johannes wore a lot of hats as the lone 12th grader on this Eagles’ team, but none more important than the “leadership cap” she sported every day of the regular and postseason. An emotional Coach Karen Harrill said after their loss on Monday that she wanted the win for Johannes and for the team. Johannes hit .320 in her senior year for the Eagles, with six doubles, a triple, and one home run. She knocked in 26 runs, third-most on the team, and scored 17 times. The senior also had a 2 – 0 record on the mound with a team-low 1.42 ERA and 20 strikeouts. PC finished the season with a 21 – 8 mark.
