It’s not often that the leading scorer over the course of a conference basketball season gets left off of that league’s First Team All-Conference honors list. That’s what happened to Claire Marburger of the Central women’s basketball program. She averaged 17.7 points per game, and was second overall in the Iowa Conference in rebounds per game with almost nine. Marburger also had almost two blocks per game, which was second in the IIAC. Coach Chelsea Petersen tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that Marburger was very unhappy with how the voting from the other conference coaches went, and says that she has used it to push herself this offseason. Petersen adds that her expectations for the to-be sophomore are for Marburger to continue to push herself relative to her own potential as a player. The season tips off for Central at Grinnell College on November 15.
