The Melcher-Dallas Baseball Squad hopes Saturday’s opening round class 1A district game against Iowa Christian is a turning point for the program. Two years ago, the Saints did not have a team, and last season they were winless. This season, the Saints have won four times, one of those wins was against Iowa Christian. In that game, Paul Karpan pitched his best game limiting the Trailblazers to just four hits in a complete game shut out. Coach Pat Ferguson tells KNIA/KRLS Sports not only will his pitchers have to play well on Saturday, but the rest of the team which means making the routine plays. A win by the Saints would advance them into a meeting with the district’s number one seed and state power Martensdale St. Mary’s on Tuesday.
