Peripheral statistics in baseball can often tell a different story than the team’s record, especially at the high school level where you can find teams with some young athletes. The PCM Mustang Baseball team was one of those teams where the stats told a different story than their 12-18 record.
The Mustangs batted as a team at a .288 clip and hit 46 doubles, both of which weree good for fourth in a competitive Heart of Iowa Conference conference. The Mustangs ranked sixth in overall record, but with the amount of young talent the Mustangs are bringing back for next season the offensive numbers are a bright spot for PCM. One area the Mustangs could improve in is power numbers, the Mustangs hit only four triples and one home run all season. A full recap of the Mustangs season can be heard on the Knoxville Hyvee Radio Coaches Corner in the coming weeks.
