Playing in the Heart of Iowa Conference for your regular season schedule can be a brutal experience for a class 2A school, as the mostly 3A conference is competitive up and down the list.
PCM has had to compete with programs that are expected to make waves in the class 3A playoffs coming this next week, but it’s not something that the Mustangs are using as an excuse for their record. Rather, the Mustangs are using their close games and competition against the larger schools as training for their upcoming postseason action. PCM Head Coach Shawn Hudnut tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that the guys have plenty of experience playing tough schools, they just need to translate that into game performance. The Mustangs are not done with their regular season despite going through their conference schedule already, they will play area rivals Pella, Pella Christian, and Lynnville-Sully to round out their week.
