Pella Christian is hoping to avoid the one-and-done fate they suffered one season ago when they begin the Class 2A softball playoffs tonight at home.
The 19-7 Eagles will host 12-14 Madrid in the first round of the Regionals. Pella Christian fell in the same round to Van Meter 9-8 last year, but Head Coach Karen Harrill says the team is much healthier and more experienced than they were back then.
“I like the fight of this team, I like where we are at,” she says.
PC’s lineup has shown more consistency this season than last, hitting .321 overall and scoring six runs per game. It’s a lineup that hopes to crack Tigers senior pitcher Jordyn Achenbach, who is 10-8 with 139 Ks in 131 innings and sports a 2.24 ERA.
Our coverage begins at 6:45 on 92.1 KRLS, with first pitch at 7 p.m.
