A late comeback that saved their season from ending prematurely, Pella Christian’s softball team continues regional tournament play in the semifinals tonight at home versus South Hamilton. The Eagles trailed Madrid going into the bottom of the sixth, 4 – 3, when PC’s bats broke Jobu’s spell and erupted for eight runs to win, 11 – 4. Emma Schnell did not factor into the decision, as she had a shaky outing, going four innings and giving up four hits and four walks. Coach Karen Harrill says the focus on practice yesterday was to build back Schnell’s confidence and to give the team a feel for what kind of pitching they’ll see from the Hawks tonight. South Hamilton enters play at 19 – 11 and they feature a speedy line-up that has stolen 68 bases this year. The pitching staff averages about one walk per game that has a strong defense behind them. Tonight’s semifinal at Pella Christian will be live on 92.1 KRLS, KNIAKRLS.com, and via our free mobile app. Cory Houser will call the action starting with the pre-game show at 6:45 p.m. and first pitch at 7:00.
