The Eagles softball team wanted to make a statement against Dallas Center-Grimes in their final conference game of the 2016 season, but defensive mistakes and walks came back to bite PC in their 9-1 loss heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

Pella Christian faced an uphill battle, taking on Rachel Lowary returning from injury for the second time this year. Through the first four innings, both teams halted opportunities from the other, which kept the game scoreless.
But it was a five-run fifth that happened in a matter of minutes for the Fillies that allowed them to pull away. Head Coach Karen Harrill loved how her team battled against a top level pitcher, but said a pair of leadoff walks in the 5th and 6th defensive and missed chances on offense came back to haunt them.
Chloe Dembski was 2-for-4 with the team’s lone RBI. Pella Christian is 17-7 and will host senior night tonight with Sigourney to wrap up the regular season campaign.

Game two went into extra innings thanks to a late surge by the Eagles, but they fell short, 4 – 3 in ten frames. A throwing error with two outs led to the winning run for D-C-G touching home plate. PC is now 17 – 12 this season, and they play tonight at home versus Sigourney.
