Both the Pella baseball and softball teams celebrated a stacked senior class’s contributions to their programs with victories last night.
The baseball team won in six innings 12-2 over PCM, and the softball team earned a 4-2 win over Perry.
Pella’s boys of summer made short work of their Highway 163 neighbors behind a 3-for-4 night with a home run from Senior Grant Judkins and Tyler Hillman’s five strikeouts on the mound.
Head Coach Jesse Jablonski says they are still searching for consistent hitting as the regular season wraps up.
“PCM went with kind of a staff game pitching wise and one thing we haven’t done a great job is making adjustments on the fly…we did a great job of that tonight,” he says.
PCM was led by a 2-for-3 game from Austin Brown.
The Lady Dutch softball team snapped a four-game losing skid in their senior night win. Seniors Alexa and Lydia Dingeman say it was key to shake off the late season skid, and that they will miss playing with this team regardless of how the postseason plays out.
“Going into [the next week] with a loss would be very difficult,” Dingeman says. “It’s a big momentum switch for us.”
Sarah Tallman was 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs scored.
For baseball, Pella is 24-8 and PCM is 10-17. The Little Dutch host Ballard tonight and the Mustangs travel to Lynnville-Sully. The softball regular season is over for 15-18 Pella, who host a playoff game Saturday night.
