A group of Pokemon Go players in Knoxville shared important safety information with KNIA/KRLS News.
Five players aged 10-15 who are members of the blue team Mystic say distracted walking or driving can be a significant hazard if a player is not paying close attention to their surroundings. The team suggested playing with a partner for greater visibility and safety. Playing with familiar people is also important, as there are in game rewards for interacting with other players, but those rewards can be used to isolate an individual and make them vulnerable. The team points out that while there are some dangers, the game is exciting, keeps people active and will be updated in the future with new content to keep it entertaining and challenging. Team members say as long as players remain cautious of strangers and aware of their surroundings, they can enjoy exploring the game, being outdoors and catching Pokemon.
