Hollywood storyboard artist, Adam Van Wyk, a native of Pella, spoke about his work on “The Secret Life of Pets” and other animation at the Grand Theater Tuesday.
Van Wyk’s presentation was followed by a screening of the film – free to all those in attendance. Van Wyk, who has worked on some of the most successful animated movies released in the last few years, discussed how an animated movie begins with the script and story boarding and proceeds to the final film the public enjoys. His involvement begins early on in the process and communicates the essence of each scene and character to the thousands of other artists and technicians working on the film. Van Wyk says much of the work he does not make it into the final cut of the film or show, but his passion for animation drives him to keep working. He is lives and works in Des Moines.
