With the season over for the Knoxville Baseball Squad, the Panthers now look to what is ahead for the 2017 season. Most of the players will be back so experience will not be an issue next year. Coach Joel Johnson tells KNIA/KRLS Sports many of the younger players who were sophomores this season played a large role in the team’s 19-18 campaign. He says they worked hard to improve and many of them now know what it is like to wear the Knoxville Baseball uniform. The Panthers won back-to-back South Central Conference titles…and they also won a postseason game for the first time since 2013. Johnson says a lot of positives came out of the season with many of the players realizing they can play on the varsity level. He says now the task is to get even better in the pitching department and get more depth with the pitching staff.
