Back-to-back 30-win seasons and two straight appearances in the Class 3A state semifinals at Principal Park. Pella High’s baseball team put together quite the encore performance in this 2016 season. The Little Dutch opened up the playoffs by shutting out their first four opponents; Newton, Knoxville, Oskaloosa, and Humboldt all could not figure out Pella’s pitching, while the defense played mostly errorless baseball on their way to the penultimate round of the state tournament. Coach Jesse Jablonski says the amount of fun that his team was having at the end of the season was a joy for he, the fans, and the other coaches to watch. In addition to all of their achievements this year, Pella also won their second consecutive Little Hawkeye Conference championship, having not won the title in any season prior to 2015. Their final record this season was 31 – 9.
