Former Central College All-American Kurtis Brondyke posted a career best in the Decathlon this weekend at the Thorpe Cup in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The 2011 Dutch grad was competing for Team USA in the event that pits the Americans versus Germany in the men’s decathlon and women’s heptathlon. Team USA took the top five spots in the decathlon, including Brondyke’s fourth-place finish with 7,695 points, 181 behind winner Scott Filip. Last month, Brondyke finished 11th place at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Eugene, Oregon, where three individuals qualified for this month’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
