A meeting of the South Central Iowa Watershed Management Authority is taking place next week.
The Cedar Creek Watershed covers more than 269,000 acres, including much of southeastern Marion County. Watershed management focuses on effective conservation in order to maintain the health and integrity of watersheds. Linda Shumate with the authority says there are 15 WMA’s throughout the state. A meeting focused on protecting the watershed will be held Wednesday August 31 at 9 a.m. at the Monroe County Farm Bureau Office in Albia.
