Following their second straight Little Hawkeye Conference championship, Pella High’s baseball team had a total of four young men named to the All-Conference Team this season. All three of Pella’s first-team selections were unanimously chosen; Grant Judkins as a pitcher, Tyler Hillman as an infielder, and Jaden Rolffs as a utility player. In Judkins’ senior year, he led the league with a 0.65 ERA overall and just a 0.51 ERA in conference contests. He had twice as many strikeouts as the next closest player in the conference; Judkins struck out 122 and teammate Tyler Hillman had 61 K’s. The future Iowa Hawkeye also batted .436 at the plate, with a league-high six home runs and 39 RBI.
Hillman’s contributions were also multi-faceted. The junior hit for a conference-best .445 clip, drove in 25, and hit 14 doubles and five triples. Hillman was second on the mound with a 0.90 earned run average on his way to a 9 – 1 record.
Jaden Rolffs, the sophomore Little Dutch catcher who primarily hit behind Judkins in the line-up, took advantage of his clean-up role by driving in 36 runs while hitting .415 with 13 doubles.
Payton Shull was picked to the second team All-Little Hawkeye Conference. He hit .344 this season, with ten doubles, and he drove in 23 runs. Lucas Hileman and Landon Vander Leest were both honorable mentions. Pella finished 31 – 9 overall.
