An overlooked and unused church in Knoxville is being re-purposed by Helping Hands Food Pantry.
Chuck Galeazzi with Helping Hands described plans to make the 100 year-old Disciples of Christ Church a community touchstone once again, as a meal site and community meeting place. In order to complete the project Galeazzi is asking for help on an attached garage and the sanctuary. He says work is about 75% percent complete, but they lack funds to hire a contractor. Helping Hands is looking for volunteers to help renovate the space. The church is located at the corner of North First and East Pleasant. Galeazzi says any assistance is welcome and if anyone wants to see the inside of the church he would be happy to show it to them. For information on getting involved in the restoration contact Chuck Galeazzi at 641-842-4524.
