Law enforcement training on dealing with an active shooter situation has just concluded in Knoxville.
Knoxville Police Lieutenant Aaron Fuller says officers from across the state have been participating in exercises detailing how to contain and eliminate the threat of an active shooter. Training was conducted at East Elementary. Fuller says the unused school building allowed for a more accurate simulation of an incident. The Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training was broken up into two levels: eliminating the threat and then caring for victims and securing the scene. The training was conducted by experts in the field who traveled from Texas to conduct the four-day seminar.
