The Bible will be read cover to cover outside the Marion County courthouse in September.
Fifty Iowa counties have already had marathon readings of the Bible after the signing of a proclamation by Governor Terry Branstad encouraging Bible reading across the state. Jim Den Hartog, one of the captains of the reading says it’s more than an academic exercise, carrying deeper meaning and effects on the county. The effort will require 300 readers and will go from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. each day from September 6 to 11. To sign up as a reader go to www.marioncountybiblereadingmarathon.com
