Four Coaches and 12 athletes from the Pella cross country team attended the Ultimook Running Camp in Tillamook, Oregon earlier this month.
Led by Coach Doug Cutler, the 16 of them drove from Pella to Oregon’s Pacific Coast.
He says that it was an opportunity to bond, to have fun, and to improve as runners.
“They were really nice people and we learned a lot from them. We got to see how they do things a little differently. Not one way is right or wrong, but it’s great to exchange ideas.”
“The kids had a great time. We did everything from playing running games on the beach and jumping in the ocean to a 12-mile run up a mountain and back. It really was a special experience – I think the kids learned a lot about themselves and a lot of relationships were deepened.”
Both Pella cross country teams are coming off top 3 finishes at last year’s state meet. The Lady Dutch were runners up in class 3-A while the boys took third.
