Third base has been the home for Pella Christian softball standout, Brooke Mitrisin, the last three seasons, and one she has improved at each year. In her freshman season in 2014, Mitrisin hit .222 with a pair of doubles and eight RBI, and her fielding percentage was .918. Last year, she improved to a .261 average, five doubles, a triple, and a home run offensively with 16 RBI, and fielded at a .931 success rate. Fast forward to this past summer, Mitrisin committed just four errors defensively at the hot corner for a .953 fielding percentage, she had six doubles, a triple, four homers, and she drove in 22, all while hitting at a .327 clip. Coach Karen Harrill says Mitrisin’s progression has been fun to watch at one of the toughest positions on a baseball diamond. Mitrisin and most of her Eagle teammates will be back to try and make a run to the Class 2A state tournament next season after finishing on the bubble in the regional final last month.
