In addition to seven seniors, the Pella Christian volleyball team has six juniors out this year.
Coach John Evenhouse says that he’s counting on many of them to contribute.
“Makenna Van Dyke will play the right side for us. Kandace Hofman, who also is from the JV team will work right and a little bit middle. Sarah Posthuma lasst year played on varsity some as a sophomore and she has really stepped up her game. Bekah Horstman was pretty spectacular last year on varsity as a sophomore, and she’s hitting the ball better. Then we have Sophie Howerzyl, who played a defensive specialist position, and Laura DeZwarte, who will put some pressure on the right side hitters and does a great job playing defense.”
The Eagles competed in a scrimmage over the weekend at Ankeny Centennial, which is where they’ll open their regular season with a tournament on August 27th.
