Yesterday marked the official start date for fall sports practices, and one of the teams that took the court was the Pella Christian Volleyball team.
New head coach John Evenhouse says that’s a little misleading, however, as new rules have allowed him to have contact with his team throughout the summer.
“We’ve been working out a couple of times a week in the morning, voluntarily. So we’ve been working with them a little bit, but starting August 1st, we started kicking it in gear. We had our own camp last Monday and Tuesday, three-and-a-half to four hours a day, kind of introducing the Evenhouse way of doing things. It’s really not that different from the Nikkel way of doing things, but the kids got to learn a little bit more about me and what I’m like.”
The Eagles will scrimmage against a handful of other teams this Saturday at Ankeny Centennial, and their first real action of the season is a tournament on August 27th, also at Ankeny Centennial.
