The Pella Christian volleyball team hasn’t been to the state tournament since the last season of new coach John Evenhouse’s first stint – in 2010.
Like every program at Pella Christian, the Eagles will have a very challenging regular season schedule. Evenhouse says that should help them get better as they prepare for the postseason journey.
“We’ll go to an Iowa City West tournament. We’re going to an Ankeny Centennial tournament. We’re playing 5-A and 4-A teams that are top ten in the state, and that really helps us. In our own conference, Dallas Center Grimes is just an excellent team and Pella’s going to be an excellent team this year – so we could have two or three teams going to state from our conference.”
The Eagles don’t have an easy start to the season, as they open at the Ankeny Centennial tournament that Evenhouse mentioned. That one-day event is next Saturday, August 26th.
