The Pleasantville Trojan football team came into Eddyville on Friday hoping for the same results from a year ago after the Trojans took care of the Rockets from Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont 36-0 last year ago.
Well the Trojans got just what they wanted as it was almost a mirror image from a year ago. A quick drive to start the game capped off by short rushing touchdown by Sawyer Phillips to take the early lead 7-0 early in the first quarter. Before the defense took the field and turned up the tempo on the Rockets. Gage Vanhaalen picked off EBF quarterback Tre Moore to set up the Trojan offense again inside the EBF territory and a few plays later there was Sawyer Phillips for another short touchdown run to put the Trojans up 14-0. The Trojans would carry the momentum till halftime as they led the Rockets 26-0 at the half. The Trojans would add one more score with a throw from Owen Worthington to tight end Devon Dursky from ten yards out to put the game on ice as the Trojans would go onto win 33-6 over the Rockets from Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont. Coach Gabe Bakker felt his team set the tempo and the standard in the 1st quarter for the rest of the game. Next up for the Trojans a home game hosting the Centerville Big Reds next Friday night as the Trojans look to move to 2-0 on the season.
