Pella was among the hardest hit areas by this evening’s storms, with street flooding and low visibility reported due to rain.

Pouring rain and gusty winds prompted a severe thunderstorm warning in the eastern part of Marion County earlier this evening.
The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team was live on the air at 6:52 p.m. for the brief warning, with seven staff members providing up-to-the-minute coverage from our KNIA/KRLS Studios in Knoxville and calling in from Pella and Bussey.
Rainfall rates of nearly two inches per hour were reported with the strongest part of the storm, as 1.26″ fell in approximately thirty minutes at our Pella studios in the Molengracht. Many streets flooded temporarily throughout the community as well. .43″ of precipitation was recorded in Knoxville during the same time frame.
