With six straight victories and a 6-1-1 record to start the season, the Central College women’s soccer team is among those receiving votes in the newest D3Soccer.com poll.
The poll ranks the top 25 teams, and Central received the ninth most votes among those teams not in the top 25. They are the only Iowa Conference school on the list.
The Dutch are also ranked 8th in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s North Region Poll. That ties for the highest ranking in program history in that poll, which is one of the criteria used to select national tournament qualifiers.
After a whirlwind first few weeks of the season, the Dutch are now in the midst of a 10 day layoff, which coach Mike Kobylinski says is well needed.
“We’ve gotten banged up. We’ve had about six injuries since we started camp. We had a few freshmen that came in with ACL injuries and stuff like that. Unfortunately, in the last couple of weeks we’ve got banged up with another ACL and a concussion and a couple other things.”
The Dutch will come out of their long break next Tuesday against Monmouth in Illinois before opening the Iowa Conference schedule on Friday at Coe.
