The Pella Christian volleyball team puts its 12 match winning streak on the line tonight in a Little Hawkeye Conference home matchup with Newton.
A sweep of Grinnell Tuesday brought the Eagles to 18-7 on the year, and above the .500 mark in LHC play at 3-2.
Coach John Evenhouse says that while his team is playing well, they’re making some adjustments offensively to give his best players a chance to make plays.
“We’re trying to spread the net a little bit more. We have one lineup where we have Mady (Zula) and Bekah (Horstman), who are our two best hitters, in the front row at the same time. So what we’re trying to do is get Mady to go right, and Bekah will have a whole half a court to swing wherever she wants.”
Evenhouse says that adjustment worked well Tuesday against Grinnell, and expects they’ll continue to implement it moving forward.
If the Eagles can beat Newton tonight, it will set up a showdown for second place next Tuesday against Dallas Center Grimes.
First serve between Pella Christian and the Cardinals is tonight at 7:15 at Pella Christian High School.
