It was quite the opposite for the Knoxville Football Squad last night compared to its week one success. The Panthers were controlled from the outset and fell to Fairfield 45-14. The Trojans bigger offensive and defensive lines were key in building leads of 26-to-eight at one point in the first half, and then broke the game open in the second half. Knoxville scored on a one yard Jacob Zuck run set up by a 67 yard scramble by Zuck in the first quarter after Knoxville fell behind 14-0. The Panthers seemed to gain a little momentum back after Trent Davis caught a ten yard pass from Zuck just before halftime to close the gap to 26-14, but the Trojans would score 19 unanswered points in the second half. Panthers Coach Eric Kellar said the line play and not tackling well were prominate in Knoxville’s loss. Zuck led the Panthers on the ground with 75 yards on 13 carries, he was also 10/20 for 121 yards through the air. Trent Davis caught three balls for 48 yards. Knoxville is now 1-1 and will host Norwalk on Friday to start district play.
