Local Cross Country Teams Run At Pine Knolls

What is becoming one of the largest in-season cross country meets in the region happens today at Pine Knolls Country Club. The Knoxville Invitational will welcome 18 teams from 1A to 4A and five team from this area will be running along with host Knoxville. Pella, Pella Christian, PCM, Twin Cedars, and Pleasantville will join teams from Chariton, Newton, Ankeny, and Marshalltown. Knoxville Coach Michael Splavec tells KNIA/KRLS the difficulty of competition will make it seem like a mini-state meet. PCM features the 15th ranked runner in Class 2A Chris Ellens along with sophomores Paytan Schutt, Kirstin Ives and Megan Townley for the girls and Freshmen Jason Stafford and Jacob Cox for the boys. The high school portion begins at 5:00 and fans are encouraged to get their early. Parking is available at the Pine Knolls Club House and the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church parking lot.
