Defense was at a premium Saturday in Spokane, Washington – but one Central defender stood above the rest. Senior Safety Zach Matter was named the Iowa Conference defensive player of the week.
Matter racked up 9 solo tackles, one for a loss, and two pass break-ups in Central’s 50-49 overtime win over Whitworth.
Matter was a first team all Iowa Conference selection last year, and was twice named the league’s defensive player of the week.
